What a nursery basket is for, and when you need one

A nursery basket is for the hours nobody watches: the long stretch between the last feed and the first light.

It is handled every day, so what counts is not what it promises but what it does without anyone having to think about it.

Check the measurements on this page before you order. See our other nursery furniture.

You will find the material below. The washing instructions and the age range are not given, so we do not write them.

Nursery basket sizes, materials and care

In practice, here is what this one gives you.

Made from polyester.
Goes in and out of the cot without a fight.
Washes and is back on the bed the same evening.

Check the label before first use: where a weight or a size limit is given, it is the figure that matters, not the photograph.

How to choose a nursery basket: colours, care and what to check

The photographs show several versions, but only one is sold here.

There are no washing instructions. Wipe with a damp sponge and mild soap, then leave to dry flat. We would rather tell you that than print a temperature nobody gave us.

One last thing: no nursery item replaces an adult keeping an eye out. It helps you, it does not watch for you.

What makes the difference

What you read elsewhere

The size is missing — Half the listings give you a colour and nothing else. You cannot compare two items on a photograph.
No word on washing — Baby things get washed often. When the label says nothing, you hesitate, and the item ages badly.

Our answer

Here, the size and the washing are on every page

With the material and the finish, so you compare on facts rather than on a photograph.

Frequently asked questions

Polyester. We repeat it without rounding: that is what lets you compare two items that look alike in a photograph.

Go by the measurements on this page and by your own child — children of the same age vary by a size or two. Write to us if you would like us to check.

Wipe with a damp sponge and mild soap, then leave to dry flat and away from direct heat. Test any cleaning product on a hidden area first.

What the specifications list, and nothing more. Props and decorations seen in the photographs are there to show scale. Write to us if a detail matters to you.
